I understand that the post of Colonial Veterinary Surgeon to the Government of Hongkong may shortly become vacant.

At present I am employed by the Dairy Farm, Ice and Cold Storage Company as their Veterinary Surgeon, the term of my agreement being for three years.

Should it be possible, and I have already approach- ed the Dairy Farm Co. on the subject, for me to be released from that agreement I beg to be considered as an applicant for the appointment of Colonial Veterinary Surgeon.

My qualifications are as follows:-

I was born August 1st 1869 at Penicuik, Midlo- thian, Scotland.

I attended George Heriot's School, Edinburgh, for four years.

I was student of Royal (Dick) Veterinary College for six years and qualified .R.C.V.S. in May 1911. Having served as assistent and locum-teneng in various parts of the country I commenced practice on my own account in October, 1912, and remained in practice until the outbreak of war.

On August 5th 1914 I wes mobilised as an Officer of the Special Reserve of Officers, Royal Army Veterinary Corps and went to France on August 12th. 1914 as Veterinary Officer in charge 4th Guard's Brigade, 2nd Division. With this Brigade I went through the retreat from one to the outskirts of Paris and the advance across the Marne to the Aisne.
